the historical changing of ownership from Auckland Harbour board to the newly formed Preservation Society.  As is customary a monetary sum had to change hands to make the sale official.  The society paid the Auckland Harbour board one dollar, and the Auckland Harbour board then donated one dollar back to the new society.  The original one dollar donation from the Auckland Harbour board is visible as a cheque which is framed in the captain's cabin
